David L. Michel, Esquire
Since January of 2001, David L. Michel has been the sole practitioner of the
Michel Law Firm, LLC located in downtown Charleston at 15 State Street.
David represents clients in the areas of Criminal Litigation in Federal, State, Magistrate and Municipal Courts, Plaintiffs in Civil Litigation involving
Personal Injury, and Probate Litigation.
David graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of
Science degree in Business Administration in 1994 and continued at the
University of South Carolina to obtain his Juris Doctorate in May of 1997.
David has over twenty years of experience practicing law in a wide array of jurisdictions. From August of 1997 to January of 2001, David served
Charleston County as an Assistant Solicitor for the Ninth Judicial Circuit
and managed a caseload of over 500 Criminal warrants which involved
violent crimes, felony drug charges, and property crimes. David also
developed and co-coordinated Charleston County's Adult Drug Court.
Furthermore, David served the City of Charleston as a City Prosecutor from
March of 2001 to August of 2004. The position entailed serving as a
part-time Prosecutor managing a caseload of Misdemeanor Warrants
including DUI, domestic violence, and alcohol violations.
Since January of 2013, David has been certified as a Circuit Court Mediator. David specializes in mediating probate and civil cases.
In addition, David currently serves as the Chief Municipal Judge for the
Town of Mount Pleasant. David was appointed to this position in August of
2004. As the Chief Municipal Judge, he is precluded from handling
matters that arise within the Town of Mount Pleasant jurisdiction.
